Who are the Lions?
The Lions are 1.3 million men and women in over 45,000 clubs in over 200 countries who are dedicated
to making their communities better. While the main goals of the Lions are to help eradicate all types of
preventable blindness and to restore sight to those in need who experience vision problems, Lions around
the world take on many other projects as well.
Here are just a few of the projects world wide the Lions have taken up:
- Brought 3,000 volunteers together to build a playground for children of all abilities in California
- Fed 60,000 people in a township in South Africa. It's something Lions do there every day.
- Sent a team of eye surgeons to Honduras to treat more than 100 adults and children

Locally, Lions in Columbus work everyday to help people in our community with vision needs. You may see
members of the Columbus East Lions selling hotdogs at community events, hosting a pancake breakfast or
delivering phone books to raise funds to help those in need. Every dollar that you donate to the Columbus East
Lions goes to those in need in your community. In addition, the Columbus East Lions play their part in
maintaining and improving the quality of life in Columbus by taking part in various community events.
Last year, the Columbus East Lions helped over 120 people have their vision restored.
